My desire for "new" things may mean I'm too lazy to practice stewardship. My desire for things at a cost to others may mean I think more highly of myself than I should. It really is disturbing when we find out all that we are actually supporting with our money. That is one are that my kids have been influenced to participate in the Compact, to understand that when they pay for something, they not simply paying for "the thing".
