Etsy. You know you love it
And so do I. Who can resist all the artsy, crafty goodness? I love the fact that you can buy directly from the creative soul who made your item. No middle man. Less waste. More fun.
I recently came across Jessica’s store (she is also one of my friends and just an all-around fabulous person)…where she is offering a custom “metamorphosis” of your soft baby carrier. This is the coolest thing I’ve seen…especially if you have an older Ergo like I do. Check it out. She also has adorable tie dye stuff available.
And while we’re talking Etsy, here are some of my favorite stores:
ChopstixWaits
Coolest stuff ever. She did a custom wrap skirt for me that I adore…it’s just like Em’s seen here.
Enchanted Gypsy
Felted wool pregnant and nursing mama figures (and more!). SO FUN.
Em Falconbridge
Art, camera straps, and other creative goodies. We love Em.
One Love Creations
Can I love her tube tank dresses any more?! Lots of cool stuff.
Arliaflower
Fun dread wraps and neat clothes.
Rebecca Tolk Photography
Great art.
Palmetto Handmade
This is the store of my dear friend, Kristi. I’m in love with her “verse purse”.
OneBlackBird
Be sure to check out her “glow bowls”.
Fields of Joy
My friend, Emilee. Love her stuff.
Boulevard Designs
This is the store of my lovely friend Sarah…owner of Wallypop. She makes amazing cloth diapers, and other fun stuff. Check out the felted wool bowls!
Olive
Fun, unique pillows!
Lisa Hurwitz
Could these paintings be any more adorable? Everyone needs one in their house.
So those are mine…who are your favorite sellers on Etsy? Feel free to shamelessly promote your own goods as well.

Very cute stuff. A whole lot of selling going on here for an anti-consumption girl. I guess even greenies have to make a living.

I love Etsy! I’m partial to my own shop of handmade soaps, of course (www.birchbarksoap.etsy.com). My other current favourite is Elizabeth Scott’s nature inspired jewelry - it’s beautiful! (http://www.esdesigns.etsy.com)

Olivia…it is possible to dislike EXCESSIVE, unnecessary consumption and still have an appreciation for great art/artists/creative spirits.

I love ChopstixWaits’ shop!
I think also by buying things that are well made (and handmade) you will be buying less a they outlast mass/poorly produced products.
I also tend to take better care of things that mean more to me. Overall that means I buy less.

Thanks for the Etsy love, Sara!
I enjoyed finding some new favorite stores from your list, too!
Some of my favorites on Etsy:
I thought of Bella actually when I first saw this shop
she assisted my first home birth
I could never spend this much on furniture, but I sure would love to furnish my cob house living room with a few of these!
one of my really close friendsshe makes such beautiful baby stuff! her husband is actually sort of “in-between” ministry jobs right now, so i keep sending people to her shop because every dollar counts!!!
cute and funky - I ordered some funny “mac” earrings and rings from her in the past!
So… I have many favorite sellers, but many of them stem from relationships I have with friends / family and I want to support them… another thing I love about Etsy!

I love Crackpots: crackpots.etsy.com
I have some of their small vases that I use as glasses, and she custom made me some little teacups, too. (You should come over and have tea with me in them!!)
Also KreativeMindz, I bought a hair wrap from her a while back. I wasn’t 100% thrilled with it, but it was a quality product (just not what I expected). kreativemindz.etsy.com
And, uh, never bought anything from SplitYarn but did a lot of drooling. splityarn.etsy.com

Hey Sara,
I too am de-lurking to say thanks for spreading the Etsy love —
any composters out there? How about vermicomposters - composting indoors with worms! I became very enthused about this after getting discouraged about all the food waste I was throwing out (I live in a condo and can’t compost outdoors). Loonngg story short I designed and made these vermicomposting bags and I must say they work so well. Take a look at

Oh my gosh! Etsy is so 1) beautiful 2) fun and 3) slightly addicting! I can spend an hour looking at the beautiful things people make with their hands. I love how it seems to have really opened up an avenue for women to create beauty and make a living through their art. LOOOOVE Etsy. When I buy birthday gifts, I always try to buy from Etsy. Love it!

I just opened my etsy shop a couple of months back. At www.sailingbystarlight.etsy.com
I really love the whole ethos of etsy. And it’s such a friendly place too.
I’m hoping to get most of my Christmas gifts from handmade stores like etsy this year. It’s just so much more special than buying factory mades from a store.

I love etsy, thanks for turning us onto some new great stores. I just opened my own shop where I create goods out of cool vintage fabrics and yarn that I find in my travels. There’s too much great stuff out there to let it waste away on the shelves of Goodwill!

Love your blog. My Etsy shop (which is a little bare at the moment) is http://annahawthorne.etsy.com and I make handmade books. They are always a great gift, especially for you low-consumer types. I plan to add some recycled/upcycled items and some exciting new bindings soon.
Also check out our Bookbinding Esty Street Team (BEST) with tons of great book artists.

Hi Sara! I’m an Etsy lover as well. I have a shop there also selling jewelry using vintage and recycled materials.
http://www.foundandmade.com
Some of my favorite shops are:
http://www.vintageetc.etsy.com
That’s my daughters shop. She sells vintage clothes and accessories that she finds at the many estate sales we scavenge on the weekends.
I just bought two headwraps from arliaflower (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=33654) for my upcoming dreads that I’m having done next week. I’m so excited!!
*I just want to say “Thank You” for putting such wonderful positive information on the internet. I found you through Flickr when I was looking for women with dreads. I’m getting flack from friends saying “druggies and bums on the street should only wear dreadlocks, not Christian women”. Because of you I have now adopted the Green Smoothie for my morning breakfast. I bought The Raw Food Detox Diet book and am learning a lot. And to top it off, I’m getting my dreads whether they like it or not. Maybe I can use the attention I get from having them as a way to witness to people.
You inspire me, Sara and I thank you.
