A Sneak Peak…

Here is a little sneak peak of the work we’ve done on the house…Matt just built this awesome barn wood bookshelf for me from some scrap wood we received for free. Yay! I LOVE this little cozy corner of our new home…so warm and wonderful. And now that my books are right there, it’s perfect for a quick read with a cup of tea. The renovations in this room include the floor (it used to be a 15 year old dirty white linoleum) and the paint. The paint color is Tropical Dream (Purecoat Zero VOC).

It’s taken a little over 2 weeks to get the house pretty much done. There still isn’t anything up on the walls yet…but it will take a little longer this time because before we left on tour, I got rid of a lot of stuff! My mom and dad (and entire family) are driving out here for Christmas and are bringing the remainder of our home decor items that were stored at their house. I’m so excited! I’ll try to post a few photos as we go along, but it might be awhile before it “feels finished”.

Thanks so much to all of you who have been blessing me with your holiday cards and photos…it’s so wonderful to open up the box to such love! :) Keep ‘em coming!

It’s been brutally cold here…but we’re staying nice and toasty inside around the fire. The nice thing is…we haven’t had to turn on the heat even one time, despite the negative temps. Hope you’re all staying warm too!

Have a wonderful week before Christmas :)

The best I have to offer is my downstairs loo and I didn’t even photograph that yet!
You guys are such GREAT decorators. You should build a career around that – handyman my foot! You design, he installs!

What a fabulous color! It looks so cheerful, and the floors look great – I am dying to see everything you have done. I often think about your previous house and how organized you are…very motivational to me :)

Was the flooring underneath the linoleum? What kind of flooring/wood species did you use? It looks GORGEOUS!

I LOVE that color – I’ve had a few rooms myself along the way painted that color as it is super warmer-upper of virtually any space! I’m so glad you are enjoying fixing up your new little house – what a wonderful gift for yourselves and the timing couldn’t be better. It gets COLD in RVs when it is as cold as it is where you are now. Along with everyone else, I’m waiting to see some MORE pix – I love your style of making any place look cozy and colorful – a woman after my own heart. Enjoy the holidays – and hope you’re feeling great now with the new little one on the way.

Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone! It’s coming along…it’s hard for me not to do it all at once, putting stuff on the walls, etc. But it’s just not feasible this time budget/time wise. But I am actually enjoying the longer process of it all. It’s a good patience builder :)

Sarah D…no, I wish :) We tore out the previous flooring and the new one is wood laminate. We were on the landlord’s budget, so we chose what we could with that.

Laurie…yes! My parents are bringing her kitchen, easel, wooden doll bed, and some other sentimental/important stuff that we didn’t get rid of before the tour.

Congratulations on finding an adorable home where you’ll be able to put down roots. Thank you for linking the paint color! We just purchased our first home and I’m thinking that yellow would be perfect for my sewing room.

I just love the space for plants etc above the doorway. Have you ever used high temp. paint? I just discovered it recently and have changed the color of my stove (which is very similar to yours) from black to teal and now a deep red. I love it! Also, congrats on the new baby! We are expecting our second end of April eary May. Love the new color also!

I love the wall color! So warm. My EX-SO made me some furniture from scrap wood also, a coffee table, an end table, a bench, and a 6 foot tall book shelf with bottom cabinets. He is in construction and had to tear down an old beach house in NJ, the whole house was sided with cedar, and that is what he made my furniture from. It’s the only thing I kept after he left.

    Your place looks great!

It is nice to find something worth looking at. Seems like everybody is starting a site and throwing up whatever pops into their head. Usually it does not make sense. I am glad to see that is not the case with this one.
