Walk Slowly, Live Wildly in 2009

Now that we are settled, I will definitely have a little more time to devote to writing . I would love to hear your thoughts as to what types of topics you’d like to see here. I’m not guaranteeing that I WILL write about those things…but I’d love your ideas! :) You can also include any burning questions you’d like to have answered as well…and I’ll  make one of my first posts of the new year a question/answer post based on those. I have an exciting new challenge in the works…I’ll be announcing that in mid-January. Yay! Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Sara,

I always enjoy reading your book reviews-or even just titles that you’re reading. It is nice to broaden my reading horizons.

(As if I have much time to read with a 2.5 year old and one on the way! A gal can dream, right?)

    So…my request/recommendation? More info about anything/everything pregnancy related. :-)

Interested in hearing about your faith. Were you raised in a religious household? How has your faith changed over time? To second, Lesli, how you blend your faith with your lifestyle.

I love seeing your designs, hearing your thoughts about green living, and how you fulfill (and define) your life mission. Make sense? :)

Hi Sara. I have been a long long time reader but don’t comment, well I think I did once a long time ago, lol. But I thought I would throw my 2 cents in as to what I would like to see you write about, because I REALLY enjoy your writing.

    - I always enjoy your book recommendations, they have been great reads, including the cookbooks!

    - I love pictures of your decor as well, I like how simple, colorful and useful each space is. It’s very inspiring.

    - I agree with the above comments, I like all those ideas as well!

    - How are you and your family going to deal with the economic crisis? How do you budget, etc?? (That may be a bit personal, so I totally understand if you don’t answer that. It’s always nice to hear other Christian’s ideas on finances.)

Thanks for all of your websites (I look at Happy Foody all the time, lol!) and for your time. Have a blessed New Year!

I agree with Leslie, I am really interested in how you live your faith, in how you define and go about living an authentic life — I realize my hypocrisy so often, and am striving to see it as something other than that – as my real attempts to be a “good person” even as I’m “in process” and on the road to becoming the person I am called to be. I’d love to hear if you struggle with that!

Always love thoughts on food and environmentalism and natural parenting/living!

I agree with all of the suggestions and recommendations listed, and I’ve especially enjoyed reading your posts on consumerism, conservation, and small living.

I would also like to hear more about prayer and faith. I had never considered keeping a prayer journal prior to stumbling upon your site, and now I love having a place to look back on prayers and the wonderful ways God has answered me.

For me and mine, we are setting some goals for ’09 about simplicity and getting away from things like convenience foods, store bought play doh, etc. I am always looking for family craft ideas and simple living ideas…but I have been enjoying your blog for a while and chances are, you write it I’ll enjoy it =)

I would love to hear some guidance and advice on young couples who are either engaged or recently married. My boyfriend and I are not engaged yet, because we are waiting until we graduate from college (one more semester!) and we are looking for all the advice we can find on how to have a solid, God-honoring relationship.

Karen B…the lodge wall is a Bible verse and says:

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:20

I would love to hear about how you actually did your dread locks. What did you put in them if anything? What was the process? Did you cover them when you slept, how often did you wash them, did you swim with them in the beginning? Anything you would have done differently? I am really wanting to do them and just waiting for my hair to grow some more.

Any advice for those whose spouse may not be on the same page simple living wise? I think the way the two of you are so completely like minded on things is wonderful. And now that you are living “larger” than before (though still not “large” by any means), how do you resist the temptation to over accumulate? I think I am most impressed by your contentment. Maybe you could share some more about that? Thanks Sara!

the first time I read your blog you had written a long post about a Proverbs 31 woman. I printed it out and read it from time to time. In it you said you would do a long post about the book A Woman after Gods own Heart. I would love to hear your thoughts on that fabulous book.

I’ve been wondering where you get the time to do all that you do, take care of a child, keep your house so uncluttered and neat, and work on your relationship with Jesus and spiritual growth. I have two little ones (1 and 3) with a third on the way, and am looking for any tips on scheduling my time more effectively.

I would love to hear about how you keep your home so neat and clean. How you keep the clutter out. Also, about your faith and beliefs. I would also love to hear about how you stay on the green path. It’s something I’ve been working on for some time. It’s so hard to stay on that path though when so many of my family members are not even close to being there. It’s also very hard to get my hubby on board with some of the things I want to do. Has Matt been with you on all of your green ideas or have you had to coax him into some?

I’m going to second a bunch of people:
-new house pics, how you are decorating/remodeling, etc.
    -pregnancy/birth/breastfeeding/cloth diapering/anything baby-related! :)
    -homeschooling/unschooling
-I absolutely love reading about your thoughts on following Jesus!
-a new topic I thought of…maybe advice for building a strong marriage? One of my favorites is a post you wrote on Proverbs 31, on learning to be a good wife. It seems like you and Matt have a good thing…of course it’s hard to see into a relationship, and only you and Matt know the details. (Maybe this is too private of a topic?) What would you tell couples who are just starting out? What would you tell single women who are hoping and preparing to marry someday? What do you wish you had known on your wedding day? What do you wish you had done together or said to one another before the wedding day? Etc.

Wow–there are so many good ideas here already. One thing that I’ve been researching and wondering about is how to make positive changes stick. You seem to have done that with your diet and exercise, along with your faith. I find myself doing really well in an area for a certain length of time, and then “falling off the wagon” sort of speak.

I also enjoy tremendously all the posts about green living, anti-consumerism, your faith, healthy eating, inspiration and how you balance all of these things (and more) in your life.

Thanks for this blog. I find a lot of inspiration here!

hey there, i’ve just recently found your blog and have loved it! so refreshing : ) i have been very interested in starting a ‘raw-foodism’ lifestyle myself, however my husband isn’t really on board, but very supportive of me, which is great. We also have two small children and I would love to hear your thoughts and experience on feeding your little one and if she eats like you do or not? thanks! : )

I do have a quick question, and you may have already addressed this elsewhere in prior postings, but what do you do for health insurance?

I am a sahm, and my husband works as a custom carpenter. He is paid well, but has no benefits, and we must pay for health insurance on our own.

    Thanks!!

Hmmm, man, you opened a can of worms there, huh? I quadruple alot of the same requests: healthy eating with Bella, having a healthy, fun marriage while still being actively involved parents, and for me, how to effectively combine your creativity with your career? (that may be a topic that’s just too far out there.) I’ve struggled lately with my full-time career vs. my love of using the other side of my brain. I feel that when I’m blogging, doing photo work, brainstorming for our future tour (if it’s meant to be) or just anything creative that I’m neglecting my family and the responsibilities I have as a wife and mother. Maybe some of your other readers would agree, that I often wonder, how in the world can I be a full-time employee, and be so many other things, too? Luv u guys!

Sara, I’ve read your lovely blog for a while but I think I’ve only commented once before. I enjoy almost all of what you write about. Since you’re pregnant I’m interested to hear how that’s progressing for you. I’d like to learn more about your faith and your environmental principles, and the intersection of the two [I find the concept of faith-based environmentalism fascinating - it makes a lot of sense to me]. And I LOVE hearing about your dreads and how they’re progressing. I’d be thrilled if you wrote a two-year-anniversary-of-your-dreads post with pictures, of course. At the start of December I made the decision to stop combing my hair, and already I have three baby dreads forming. I’m really fascinated to see what happens next … I wish you and your family all the best for 2009.

I know this came from your other site, but you got me and my 2 toddlers hooked on green smoothies back in the summer! I’m curious if you could post any other ways to mix other veggies into smoothies since my one toddler hit a veggie-wall and I always feel much better when he’s had some greens for the day (he eats every fruit on the planet, though). I’d love to use some other green veggies in his smoothies but am not so adventurous in trying out a new recipe. Help!
