James Revisited

Just wanted to check in and see how the James Challenge was going for you. It’s been very difficult for me to maintain steam with my memorization…especially with the end of pregnancy zapping my energy and enthusiasm. And then Lucy arrived and life turned crazy, and then there is summer…and then…well, I am full of excuses but there are none that are very good. SO…I’m jumping back in this week with renewed vigor and FOCUS :) One of the quotes I have on Happy Foody is this:

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

So, I shall begin again…serenely and with no nonsense :)

Also, I wanted to let you know that Kristi at Good Like a Medicine is hosting a giveaway for one of her verse purses. So, if you missed getting one on my blog, head on over there and try to win!

Make it a wonderful week!

I first heard about the challenge and the verse purses here on your blog. I was inspired to memorize Philippians and jumped in. Like you it has been a slow journey. But I have realized God has slowed me down on verses he doesn’t want me to rush through. And that his time frame is much slower than mine. What I thought would take a couple of months may take years, but that is okay. The goal is being in God’s word!
So thank you very much for presenting us with this challenge. And introducing us to Kristi and her great purses!

Love, love the blog. This is so off topic, but I was wondering where you get those cute “things” that are on your head in your pictures. See, I’m such an idiot, I don’t even know what to call them. I have wanted some for so long, but only always see the traditional bandana kind and the ones I see on you in pics are always just the most fun. Just curious….

    Thanks!!!

I’m actually continuing with the James Challenege, even though I’ve slowed off the past few weeks.

Patience has been my key teacher these days. I tend to want things to happen NOW (: Take a leap of faith…I want to reap the rewards NOW (: Follow that still small voice inside to do something out-of-the-box…I want confirmation NOW (:

Memorizing these scriptures has been a soul opening experience. Thanks for putting it out there!

Love that quote … especially the don’t be encumbered by your old nonsense part! God’s been working on me about being intentional. Today is a new day and, therefore, I will walk in it intentionally! :)

    Hi Sara,

I hope that you and your beautiful family are doing great!

I was just thinking about the James Challenge like 2 days ago, I glad you posted this entry. Me too, I have an excuse… I don’t do well in memorization, but I got James 1:1-8 in my heart, I’m telling you I’m bad =D, but the word is in me… When doubt comes to me I remind myself what I have read in James, when I think its all about me I have to remind myself that I’m just like a flower in the grass, here today, gone tommorrow. Big true, we need to have the word of God in our hearts. Thank you Lord!

    Have a wonderful day,
    Liliana

I’m hosting Mega Memory Month, where we do the same thing as you: take on a big (mega) memory task. I’ll be sure to link to the James challenge this Tuesday.

I went a little crazy this month and selected several different things to memorize, but three of them were fairly familiar, so I hoped they would sink in easily. So far that’s been the case.

My husband’s grandmother memorized all of James when she was in her late 70s and then tackled 1 Peter. She was an inspiration to me, and here you are inspiring me with the exact same book!
