Love your new blog! I am brand new to hooping (inspired by YOU :) ) and am looking forward to your posts on that.

Did you make the hoop in the above photo? It is beautiful! What size tubing did you use?

Sonya…that hoop is actually one I got from HoopCircle.com (I had a private lesson from Laura). I love it…it’s a super lightweight hoop for me. 3/4 in 100 psi, and not much tape.

Beverly…I threw that y’all in just for y’all ;-) hee hee

since we don’t have time to make our own right now or the money to buy a nice one, would it still be worth it to buy the $5 hoops at Target? Or is that just a waste of time and energy?

Aimee…the little hoops are ok for little people :) But even Bella doesn’t like them. It would only take 1 hour, maybe 2 hours tops to make hoops for your entire family. You can get 8 hoops from one roll for $20. Add some tape and you’re good! Just dooooooo it! xxoo

I had a feeling you’d say that :) I noticed on the make-your-own-hoop site that he just used electrical tape to decorate…what would be the advantage of buying the cloth hoop tape instead of just using the electrical tape? (I am assuming I could just buy electrical tape at Home Depot with the tubing?)

Yes, electrical tape is great to start with (and you can get it at Home Depot/Lowe’s). The hoop will remain rather “slippery” though and it will be harder to keep up and different movements. I would either order a couple rolls of gaffer tape (http://www.goodbuyguys.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/22_43_164) or get some cloth hockey tape for more grip. Although, be aware that the hockey tape can get kind of “gooey” in heat.

I noticed a HUGE difference when I went from just the electrical tape on my hoop to adding gaffers. Love it.

Well, we are leaving for a week at the beach tomorrow morning and was hoping that maybe we could make some while we are there to mess around with…I think I’ll just get electrical tape to start with since I don’t have time to place/receive an order for the gaffer tape!

Final question (promise!) did you cut different sizes or just make adult/children the same size?? measurements?

We cut custom sizes for everyone. When the hoop is standing in front of you, it should come up to between your belly button and your bra line (or imaginary bra line…ha).
