DPP ’10 // Cafe

Filed under: December Photo Project, Photography

I went to Mars Cafe today.
I sipped a soy caramel latte.
I ate an egg sandwich topped with sun-dried tomato mayo + lavender dijon and greens.
I read a little Elsiecake.
After all this goodness, I died and went to heaven.

and how long will you stay up there? in heaven i mean. :]

maybe if i get a new job, i’ll stop hating cafes and start wanting to spend time in them. your snapshots make them look all cozy but all i can do is pity the barista.

Hi, Sara. I’ve just recently started reading this blog and Happy Foody. I’d love to hear your thoughts on soy. I noticed you were drinking it in this picture! Looks yummy! BUT…there seems to be a big controversy over whether it’s good for you or not. Since I’ve stopped eating dairy, I’m missing something cold and creamy to drink but I’m worried about soy milk. Thoughts, please? :o )

Regarding soy…I don’t eat a lot of it, but I have not cut it completely out. Soy is not as “healthy” as many think, but I’m not fanatical about it. I drink almond milk at home, but try to limit soy in general.

Sounds like a lovely lunch! Elsie is local to me. Do you read racheldenbow.blogspot.com? Rachel runs Red Velvet Art with Elsie. I know Rachel from my church. She’s a homebirth mama. Come visit MO again!

@Ayla, that is why I will never take a job in a coffee shop or a bookstore–they are my favorite places and I would never want to ruin it!

@Sue Mitchell–try Almond milk, or Coconut milk, instead of dairy or soy. Both are good for you. I worry about unfermented soy, too. The fermented stuff like tempeh is good, though.

mmm, sounds yummy. Although, at the moment, just a little mumma time in a cafe would be good, delicious food and drink or not!! That would be my idea of heaven. With love xx

Thanks for the reminders to take things slow. I am in graduate school full-time and I’m often overwhelmed by the money issues, the studying, and so on. Sometimes you just have to pause.

I’m really glad that you’re writing regularly again! I love to read your thoughts!

Also, if you ever have the time, would you mind recommending some additional blogs written by Christians that have “progressive” (unschooling, environmentally-aware) lifstyles? Thank you!
