Snuggling Amidst The Mess

My two little bed-headed wonders this morning…we somehow slept until 10:00 a.m. What?!

…and because of the freezies outside, we stayed in and drank hot tea and pretended to be on American Idol.

And lest you think that my life is completely perfect and my house is never messy…think again.  I am thankful for an amazing husband who sweeps in at 6:00 p.m. and helps me clean when I’m at my wits end.

It’s been a LONG day, but tomorrow is a new day with new mercies. And a newly cleaned house. Oh what a difference it makes! :) Stay warm everyone!

you know it’s been a good day when your house is a total wreck – and god bless hubbies who help to clean at the end of the day:)
    your girls are adorable!

Sometimes I feel like it’s lydia’s goal each day to leave a mess in every room of the house. It’s incredible how fast it can happen too!

Anna…I just said the same thing to Matt :) While I’m cleaning one room, they are messing up another!

    Sweet snuggly sisters!
We are cold here today too. Cold for Texas- 18 degrees! I foresee lots of books read…and maybe a puppet show!

We’re having the same weather & same messes here… The staying-in-days are soooo worth it!

(I just have to say, we had that red & yellow Lego cart in the foreground. It was the most favorite toy here for many many years. So many uses! Now we’ve passed it along, but thanks for the memories!)

Karen…we just found it at a thrift store and Lucy loves it! It’s a baby stroller, grocery cart, sister pusher…you name it :)

Hooray for helping hubbies! Mine often does the same thing! He’s wonderful! I am jealous of your 10am wake up! My little one is up at 7:30-8 every morning! looks like Lucy was having an absolute blast in that fun room! ;)

They were both up until 10 or 11 the night before…so it was much needed sleep :) Normally they are up around 8.

Stay warm, Sara! My hubby came home to approximately 6 loads of clean laundry on our bed. He quietly folded it and put it all away. I do love him!

LOVE the thought of sleeping until 10!! Enjoy the messy house. I hear we will be :( when there is no one home to mess it up. I’m still waiting for that.

It’s 3 degrees in Des Moines right now….I had to leave hubby and kids to come in to work. Boo. :( If schools close, work should close also! No fair! And with the kids at home I know it will look like a tornado hit when I walk in the door tonight…..

It was -1 earlier this morning, but now we are holding steady at 10 degrees. Burrr!

Enjoy them messes. My baby is 17 and she still makes messes. Only now she gets to clean them up instead of me. ;)

looks like a day with lots of fun in it!! I mosty give up clearing up the mess (provided it is just toys and clutter and not dirt) til after dinner, then we have a big sort out and everything goes away. Especially this time of year when they are indoors so much of the time, they need the freedom to make lots of messes (=creative play). But I do like it all gone before we relax as adults for the evening.

Yes my parents live in longmont and they have been saying how coooold it is! Stay warm!!!

And here I was feeling sorry for myself trying to get through my decluttering in 30 degree Celsius heat!

I love that first photo. Such gorgeous girls you have, Sara!

thank goodness. that makes me feel so much better. we are enduring a blizzard and below freezing temps here in the chicagoland area. my house is a disaster! we had fun shoveling snow, coloring valentines, and making paper snowflakes. the mess can always wait until tomorrow.

  • Melissa

That picture with the mess is awesome. Those girls had the best day evah and you got to sleep late, bonus!!!

We are in the middle of the big Midwest Blizzard 2011 and although we don’t have that low temps, boy do we have your snow.

As a mom of 2 birdies, 1 of whom will be leaving the nest in 5 months – I don’t look back and think I wish I had cleaned the house more. I’m sure you feel the same.
