A Rich and Beautiful Life

“Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever”. *Isak Dinesen

Here are a few images from our life this week. Oh that I would remember that these moments will pass by so quickly…they are precious.

Bella and I enjoyed a tea party on the floor during a recent “trip to Paris”…complete with our favorite oat bars.

After a visit to the library, the girls laid out all of their “new books” and read them together on the couch. Lucy kept a close eye on Bella to make sure she was doing it right.

Bella loves to create and truly has an artist’s heart.  We recently ordered these awesome eco-paints for her to experiment with and she loves them!

We’ve had quite a bit of snow (and cold!) this week and when Bella started getting bundled up to go “sweep out” her playhouse, Lucy cried big tears until Mommy bundled her up too. It was about 9 degrees, so it didn’t last long, but it sure was fun! We came in refreshed and full of crisp mountain air!

Today we made a few Valentine’s Day cards…sitting at our new desk!

What is making your life beautiful this week?

Meant to tell you, when my son was small we sent our valentines from the PO in Loveville, MD. It made it a fun and special memory.

Beautiful, Sara. Speaking of books, have you read Last Child in the Woods? You would love it. It’s a must read!

We went to the library this week too. Storytime! It was our first storytime there and so fun that I think we’ll make a weekly tradition of it. And we’ve been reading our new books like crazy ever since :)

It’s been terribly cold here with today’s temp being at 9 degrees with so much wind that it will feel more like -25. Brr! I bundle my 3 and 2-year-old up for it, but they only last a few minutes as well. The baby and I watch them from the window. When my boy falls over (and he always does!) I set the baby in the Bumbo, throw on my boots, and run out there to hoist him back up to his feet. It’s hard to be 2, bundled up till you can barley move, and sent out in snow, icy, N. Minn. weather!

I hope your great week continues :)

making this family happy: peanut butter oatmeal, a 5th bday coming up, construction-paper valentines, and the sun shining through the windows, deceptively warm.

Hey Girl, this is beautiful! Where is the easel from and do you like it? I’m looking for one for my little ones. And those Valentines are so adorable!

Tabitha…it’s a Melissa and Doug easel. I like it … very sturdy (but large!). We have also had the IKEA version and it’s a little more compact and more natural looking.

Life is comprised of so many little moments, isn’t it?
We have been enjoying library books, beautiful sunny skies, the park, knitting and a bit of sewing.

Glad to see you enjoying your new home. Please tell me about those curtains. I can’t see much of them, but I think I love them!

    • http://walkslowlylivewildly.com/ Sara

Amber…the curtains are from Urban Outfitters. We’ve had them for several years, as they have moved with us from RV to house, RV to house :) I just got another pair from there for our laundry area. LOVE their designs. They are quite sheer though, just an FYI.

thank you. bummer I can’t get my hands on them now. :)

Nesting! We’ve been in our apartment since the end of June, and we’re expecting our second child this May, but I’ve only just started really making this place our own. It’s making my daughter’s and my days so much more enjoyable, seeing things coming together, and it’s giving us a real feeling of ownership (of our rental!) and preparation for this next step for our family.

Love the tea party pics! And it’s as cold here in Iowa as it is in CO, although me and my 18 month old (Oliver) have not ventured out to play lately :-(

Making our life beautiful this week is sitting together at our little activity table in the sun, coloring and listening to some oldies on a record player I got for Christmas. Love it!

I second Amber’s comment about your curtains – I’ve been meaning to ask you where you found them (or if you made them?)?

Good for you. It is so easy to get caught up in all the chores of mommy-hood that we forget to stop and cherish these incredible moments. God Bless you and your lovely little family :)

Love it! A fun trip to Costco today, eating 3 Cara Cara oranges as soon as we got home together from Costco and a nice sweaty run (on the treadmill) have been the highlight of our day so far. I’ve also got high hopes for a weekend spent outside enjoying the beautiful weather we are supposed to have.

Precious, and incredible in how you are able to mindfully soak it up day by day by day. You inspire me! I’d love to take a class from you on . . . anything, really. Thanks for sharing, Sara!

What’s making our life beautiful? Hmmm…
God’s amazing grace to allow us to minister in Honduras with our local kids. My girls showering love on our new little man. My hubby’s eyes twinkling after a good soccer game with the boys. Homemade coconut ice cream sitting in the freezer waiting to be eaten… LOL!

This looks like such fun ! A very merry unbirthday party!

Your photographs are so bright and colorful! Make me happy.

    Sara,

I have been following your blog for awhile and finally subscribed today. Your posts are very inspirational and I find the same joys in the day to day life. I love the moments you have captured here.

Oh Lucy’s hair in pigtails is just too cute! Darling girls. :)

  • Katherine

Sara, you always inspire me…hopefully someday I will be a mom like you – tea parties in Paris on the floor, homemade Valentines and all. You seem to remember the small moments, not just the grand gestures. What’s making me happy this week is being able to capture moments in time more easily – I finally joined the 21st century and got a “smart phone.” I took a few pictures at the aquarium this weekend, looking back on the pictures of the jelly fish makes me smile.

Thank you for the link for the oat bar recipe. They were even yummier raw. Tomorrow we’ll be making a batch for the freezer instead of the oven–not that they’ll last for very long.
