She-Ra and Underdogs

And….we’re back! Life is finally getting back to “normal” around here…with lots of giggles, jumping, and fun.

This photo makes me smile because it captures my girls doing the things they love the most right now. Lucy is opening my wallet to take out all the cards and then put them back in. Bella is dashing about and “protecting” the house with her amazing sword a la She-Ra.

And more She-Ra action. Every time I see this sword, I think of the amazing time we had at Hill Shade. Our friend Chris made this sword…all the kids had them while we were there. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we spent that time there…so many sweet memories.
I always look forward to this moment in the day (ok, ok…the mate happens several times a day). I’m thinking I should probably start beekeeping soon…we go through so much honey!
We ended our day with a trip to the park…with big sisters giving underdogs and mama hoopin’ it up.
The past couple of days we’ve taken our music and hoops with us and it’s so fun to watch the community spirit grow…just by throwing down a bunch of colorful plastic. We’ve even convinced a 52-year-old ex-gang member to give it a whirl with his grandkids
I can’t wait until it’s even warmer so we can just stay there all day!
What are you most looking forward to this spring?

Did Bella hit a growth spurt? She looks so grown up all of the sudden!
Also, your mate looks so interesting. I can’t quite figure out how you make it. Is that a froth I see on the top?
Love to see you guys hooping in the park. I have similar plans once it warms up here

Yes! She is getting so tall. Matt is 6’6″, so I think she might be tall as well. My mate…yes, it’s a latte. Mate brewed like tea with a couple inches of almond milk and honey with foam. I promise I will make a how-to video soon!

Thank you Mary!! Such kind words. My mate is just brewed like tea and then I add a couple inches of steamed almond milk and foam. I foam it with my favorite little contraption EVER: The Aerolatte!http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=walslolivwil-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=B0001RT2C4
I’m going to do a little tutorial soon!

I may give hooping a whirl…what would you suggest that is affordable for a beginner? My daughter has a few hoops, but they are made for kids and they are to light for me!

I love love love all the color in your house. It just adds to the joyfulness of your pictures. I’m also looking forward to full-on spring, so I can sit outside, read and maybe give my somewhat neglected hoop some love.

Definitely most looking forward to going to the park more (and not needing to bundle up/ wear gloves!) and hooping outdoors! I don’t think I’m quite up for taking my hoops to the park yet, but maybe some day soon…

What a wonderful post. I am in the process of making more hoops. We live or the border of an established downtown area and a gang infested area. I would love to take my hoops to the park.

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better! Bella is SO tall! She looks like a teenager! My boys are into He-Man and She-ra too .. gotta love Qubo channel.
I love how bright and cheerful your home is. It inspires me to open the blinds and let the day in.
I am really looking forward to getting better at hooping this spring – in the privacy of my backyard where no neighbors will see my foibles.
Our basement just isn’t big enough for a beginner to learn so I’m looking forward to good weather!

Great pictures as always. I’m looking forward to Easter and a spot of cross country skiing in the mountains before the snow is all gone = my favourite time of the year. Back in Stockholm in late April we’re hopefully be digging and planting in our little garden/alotment. I’m looking forward to biking there along the lakes:-)

Go Bella! I loved She-ra. I was She-ra for Halloween when I was a kid. My husband had no idea who she was until I pulled it up YouTube. I’m glad to see kids enjoying the “classics”

i love the picture of the girls doing what they do… it’s funny, we pass up little things like this and don’t think to capture them on camera, but the memories we do capture last forever and ever. so special.
this spring, i am looking forward to getting over morning sickness as my first trimester in my second pregnancy will be coming to an end… can’t WAIT for that. and then i am looking forward to enjoying the warm texas weather, going on walks with my toddler, taking him to parks, playing in the sprinkler with him. i want to buy him a wagon — i think that would be so much fun. we plan on spending lots of time outside!

Bees! We’re venturing into beekeeping this year, actually! Our first hive and colony of bees should be arriving (respectively) between any day now and April 10. Its primarily the husband’s venture, as I’m a little reactive to bee stings (and pregnant right now) but oooohh, I cannot WAIT until we start harvesting some of that delicious gold!
For the rest of spring, we’re working hard at getting our garden into the ground and started. We’re hoping that if this years garden goes well enough, we’re going to finally start branching into doing a local farmer’s market or two next year. (Our eventual goal: to start farming and earning our livelihood solely through the farm rather than farm + off-farm job for the husband, which is how its set up right now.)
(eek! I hope this doesn’t double post! my internet loooves to die on me at the most inopportune times physically possible.)

Love the hoops!! Once spring actually arrives (hopefully, not too much longer!), I am looking forward to playing outside after work with my kiddos. Fresh air and rosy cheeks!

well, it’s autumn [fall] here in new zealand … so over the next few months i’m looking forward to making soups and casseroles, wearing bright, warm clothes, snuggling with my love, going for walks on the beach on sunny days … and just generally doing the winter hibernating thing.
enjoy your spring!

I’ve never had or seen a mate except for here. The honey and milk make me think of chai.

I love Bella’s big crocheted rainbow blanket!
I’m looking forward to moving, hopefully to a house (we’re waiting to hear back if our offer was accepted or not) so I can get a garden started and so my boy can have somewhere to play outside.

Looking forward to going without a coat, no longer using our wood stove, gathering fresh eggs from our hens, and putting in the garden. And…my ultrasound to see our 3rd baby and find out the gender (because I’m far too impatient to wait!).
Happy spring, everyone!

I can’t really tell by the picture because it’s out of focus, but I think I like those red curtains in your kitchen. I have been looking all over for curtains for my kitchen that are the proper size and red.
