The Beauty of the Road & A Broken Wrist

Our trip to Iowa was fast and furious, but we had a wonderful time with family and old friends. For those just checking in, we drove back for my grandma’s estate sale. It was definitely an emotional time for me as I came back to her house for the first time since her death two years ago. So good to have a sense of closure and reminisce with family about our time spent at the house and with grandma and grandpa…but still difficult to process it all in such a short time.

I could probably write 10 blog posts about what has happened in the past week…but I’m a bit too tired for all that. I did want to let you know that Bella broke her wrist while we were at the hotel (playing “surfing” on Daddy)…so we’ve been dealing with doctors and waiting rooms and such this week. She gets her cast on Thursday. It’s her right arm, so that makes it a bit hard for her to do anything, but she’s up for the challenge and is being such a trooper.

Here are a few of the photos I captured during our 22 hours on the road…have a great week!

Beautiful photos, I want a road trip! On the other hand I’m not envious of the waiting rooms or estate sale. Must be a rough time for you all.

gorgeous photos. Sorry about Bella. Our son broke both his arms last spring within six weeks of each other. The most amazing thing about it was watching his remarkable gift of adapting to having broken arms…he just rolled with it and it never seemed to bother him one bit. I’m sure Bella will be the same.

Which iphone app did you capture those shots with?

let the process go as slow and steady as it needs….any loss here on earth is truly a forever process, a little piece always missing…how we respond and feel in that is different over time. try not to rush anything my friend.

and please let Bella know: last year around this time (actually they day after her birthday and the day she was a flower girl in her uncle’s wedding), june 5, she broke her right arm. she had it in a splint for 10 days, had to have it reset twice (don’t tell her that part) and had a cast the rest of summer. not the kind you can swim in or anything and she did just fine! bella will heal quick and adjust to her cast easy peasy!! sorry this happened, however, it’s never fun to break a bone. XOXOXO

So sorry to hear about Bella’s broken wrist. We dealt w/that a few months ago. Good news is that once that cast is on she will be going at life like nothing much ever happened. :) The new casts that can get wet are amazing and so easy to deal with. Sure hope you all can get one of those! Here’s to a speedy recovery!

    And the photos are beautiful!

Poor girl! On a mom note, kids getting hurt while you’re on vacation is the WORST. My daughter broke her leg a few months ago when we were out of town, not even having your own doctor nearby is a giant pain.

Love these pictures. I’m so glad you go some closure. I think that is one of the hardest parts of healing and coping, especially at a distance. Sorry to here about Bella’s arm, although she may be having a ball once people get to sign her cast!

Great photos, sounds like a lovely time, and healing to your spunky spirited daughter. She sounds like mine. Fearless and full of fire and spunk.

So sorry to hear of her misfortune. We took a road trip last summer from NY to the Grand Canyon with several friends and tourists stops in between. I broke my shoulder just before the 4th of July while we were heading out of Yellowstone. Thank God for good doctors and better drugs. I was still able to hike through the Grand Canyon trails and enjoyed my trip (at least what the percocet let me remember LOL!)
