Fourteen and Still Falling

At 7am this morning, it was completely silent…with snowflakes still falling. Matt and I spoke quietly while he got ready to leave for work in the winter wonderland.

And then two little girls woke up and with glee they immediately started putting on their snow gear.

Traipsing through 14+ inches.

In the deep.

And they’re back in again. I’m sure we’ll repeat this process several times today. In the meantime, there will be hot muffins and tea and togetherness. Oh, and Sufjan’s Christmas album. :)

A huge difference from the weather we are experiencing here, but this does make it hard to wait for snow to fall here!

Donna…4 wheel drive and snow tires! :) He made it down the mountain in good time too, which was surprising. Only took 10 minutes longer than normal.

        Sara,
WE mountainfolk can handle a mere 14+ inches…. ha ha. I took the bus down today. I’ll admit the thought did cross my mind to stay home this morning. It would be so much fun to play outside. Instead, I will live vicarously through your post. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy your posts but your latest are just “extra special” these days!

Wow, looks like a bunch of snow! Poor matt has to go to work? Not fun to drive. That kind of snow is a what I call a snuggle buggle snow where all you should do is snuggle with your lovey’s.

Um, can I break out the Sufjan Christmas if it’s 60 degrees and there are still leaves on the trees? Okay, thanks. :)

My sister and I were home schooled for two years in Colorado Springs. This brings back a lot of homeschool “snow day” memories. My dad would let us have a day off if the public schools were closed. Many good memories. We were always amazed by our cat, Missy, who could walk on top of the snow because she was so light!

Beatufiul! I’m not sure that kind of snow is for me but maybe I just don’t have the right clothes. Either way it’s fun to see the girls out there. Enjoy!

The right gear makes all the difference!! It’s actually possible to be completely warm and dry out in snow like this. The key is NO COTTON! :) Lots of wool and poly.

He keeps reminding me that I hate the snow…and I correct him I HATE having to get out in the snow! It looks dreamy I want to cuddle up with a nice cup of tea…too bad down here in the south its 80! What happened to fall? Enjoy the snow with your angels!!!

I love the snow! We normally get like 1/2 an inch of snow and my girls get so excited and run outside wearing their boots and a shovel! ha! I want to take them somewhere where there’s lots of snow! I was like 25 yo when I first saw snow. It was an amazing experience.

Wow!!!! We are still waiting for it here! We were lucky enough to get a glimpse of it yesterday, just a rain changing for one breath into snowflakes and back into rain again…Ah well…my daughter and I were very very happy ;)

I don’t own a winter coat, wool sweater, or boots.Neither do my kids. The few days it does get cold here we just layer up a bit and tough it out. I’m not sure where to buy good winter clothing. I supposes you buy a lot of that winter wear from kid catalogs or do they sell it in your department stores? I’ve never even seen snowpants except at a sporting goods store way up north in Branson!
