I saw that video on FB yesterday and loved it. So much truth in it. I shared it there and showed it to my 13 year old son.

And here is a very logical rebuttal:

A very thought-provoking video. I saw it this morning and loved it. Thanks for posting it. We certainly need to be church as oppossed to attend a church.
I find this video quite interesting and straight to the point too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk8ERxqCZqQ
Shalom and many blessings to you and your lovely family!

Almost forgot: have you read “Radical” by David Platt? Or watched his sermons on youtube? Certainly worth watching/reading. xx

I have read Radical, but haven’t seen his sermons. You’re the second person to tell me that, so maybe I should! xxoo

If you love Jesus… where’s the hate coming from…?

There are many good things mentioned in the video, but in the end I don’t think I can completely agree with what he says. As I read the New Testament, Jesus didn’t appear to be against “religion”; indeed, he came to fulfill the Law, not to abolish it (I forget what verse that is from). What Jesus deplored was legalism, self-righteousness, and the hubris of the Pharisees who thought that they were the only “true” followers of God.
Jesus is truly above any man-made institution. Yet the real church, the body of Christ, is found in both traditional settings and modern culture, for different people in different ways. By denouncing “religion” in general and all tradition, this video throws the baby out with the bath-water. If Christians hate anything, it should be legalism, while still keeping on their guard for what might be considered taking advantage of grace (such as indulgence of sin or permissiveness). There are always two extremes that people can fall into, neither of which are glorifying to God.
Sorry for such a long response, but this video really made me think a lot! Thank you for posting it : )

When I first saw this video I thought a few things
1 – it was well written
2 – it was excellently produced and artfully done
3 – he was right on somethings, but not quite on others.
Kevin DeYoung wrote a GREAT article in response to it … it’s worth a read. I agree wholeheartedly with DeYoung.

The search took a bit, but I found it! Very good article/response, I like his the best – no anger, no defensive walls; just pure, honest statements. And his further follow up Jeff is just as great.
