Felt-a-licious Giveaway!
Filed under: Art, Giveaways, Online Course
I have ALWAYS adored wool. Especially felted wool. The texture. The weight. The yummy.
I’ve always been a little jealous of those crafty mamas who knew the “secrets” of felting wool. But now…I am going to join that inner circle
And so can you! I have ONE SPOT to give away for Emily’s “Felt-a-licious” online course. Yay!
Em is teaming up with Nicole, who has tons of experience with wool. You do NOT want to miss this. It’s going to be so great! I’m really looking forward to working on the projects with Bella and learning this cool new skill alongside my creative daughter. I ordered the “Autumn” kit from Nicole’s Etsy shop…the colors are so yummy. However, today (the 19th) is the LAST day to order wool from her shop for it to make it to you in time. If you miss the deadline, you can always source your own wool or join in late.
Here is a little more info in Emily’s words:
WORKSHOP DETAILS:
This is a fantastical, fun introduction to felting! During the course you will be shown the nitty-gritty of what turns fluffy piles of wool into magical felted goods. With that knowledge you will be guided to make several variations of felt for our projects: round felt beads, a layered felt flower, a flat felt scarfette and a dimensional felt mobile-phone pouch.
Armed with your new skills you will be ready to felt your little hearts out (warning: felting is higly addictive!) and fall in love with this delicious artform. Even if you have felted before, this workshop is definitely going to have you saying “AH-HA!”
THE WORKSHOP WILL RUN FROM NOV 26 – DEC 4
There will be four core ‘lessons’ during the course (video and photo format), tips and tricks from the gurus, a gallery to share your creations, and two live chats with Nicole and Emily. You will be able to work at your own pace, downloading the project information at your leisure. The classroom will remain ‘open’ until the end of 2010.
To enter the drawing, just leave a comment below. Any comment! Go crazy!
For an extra entry, post it to Facebook or Twitter.
I will pick the winner at random on Tuesday, November 23 (8pm CST). Or, click here if you just want to sign up NOW!
Happy Felting!

Texture “Comfy Skirt” Giveaway

As I wandered around beautiful downtown Eugene, OR on a sunny day in 2008, I came across a cute little shop called Sweet Potato Pie. A quick peek inside confirmed that it was my favorite kind of store…hemp clothing, purses, stickers, incense
So I went in and something immediately caught my eye. This adorable green skirt. After trying it on, I knew instantly that it must be MINE. I proceeded to wear it every day for the next week…and because of this, I just had to email the designer and tell her how much I was in love with it. And so begins my relationship with Teresa at texture clothing.
Who is Teresa?
Teresa Remple is the naturally caffeinated instigator and inspiration for texture clothing. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and has lived in Bellingham, WA for nearly eight years. She is the proprietress of texture clothing and in that capacity she does everything from drafting patterns to sweeping the floors. She started sewing at twelve and founded the company in October, 2002. As a seventeen year veteran of the summer festival scene, Teresa embodies a compassionate, earth first vision for the under appreciated, and misunderstood HEMP fabric. A Fashion Arts graduate with a passion for textiles that makes her special, she’s all about working hard and living lean.
What is texture clothing?
Think gypsy vibe and travel savvy with the ease of real world living built in. texture is a boutique without the pretense ~ hard wearing, high fashion ~ figure flattering cuts ~ street legal HEMP product ~ not the coffee sack fashion typical of HEMP clothing ~ lovingly made, deftly stitched, beautifully patterned in the Pacific NW ~ clothing with a conscience.
Why do YOU need a Comfy Skirt?
If I had to pick ONE skirt to wear for the rest of my life, this would be it. Ok, I’m being a bit dramatic…but that is how much I love it!! I’ve had the green skirt for 2 years and I just got another one in “robin”. It has the perfect stretch and just the right flare at the bottom. It’s super flattering and everywhere I go, people ask me where I got it! I wore it through my entire pregnancy…it was the most wonderful maternity skirt. I even used it for Lucy’s newborn photos! It also has a cute little hidden zippered pocket in the front…I like to put my iPhone in it or my debit card/cash. No need for a purse.
And now, I’m so excited to announce that Teresa and I are teaming up to give a comfy skirt to a one of my blog readers! Yay!
There are THREE ways to enter yourself in the drawing:

The winner will be chosen at random on Wed. July 7 (entries accepted through 12:00pm MST). She is also offering a generous 20% discount to my blog readers. Just enter the discount code “happy20″. The discount code will be valid through July 12…so don’t delay! I’ve got my eye on those posh pants and the jar dress!
On a side note, I’m hoping to meet Teresa in person someday soon and give her a hug for making such fabulous clothing! Possibly this fall as we head to the Seattle area. Reading Denise’s post about Bellingham makes me want to go there and explore!

Hoop City Online Hooping Class WINNER…

And the Hoop City Giveaway winner is…
“Wildish Woman” from High on Butterfly Wings! Congratulations…you will LOVE your online hoop classes. I’ve been having such fun downloading the different lessons and connecting with other hoopers out there. I can’t wait to finish these classes so I can move on to the next one! Yes, I’m addicted
The thing that I like best is that I can work through the classes completely at my own pace and that I can download the videos to my computer and/or iPhone and have them with me wherever I’m hooping! These takes away the annoyance of streaming if your connection is slow.
I’ve checked out another online hoop class, but SaFire’s classes are hands down the most thorough, high quality (video quality and quality of content) that I’ve come across. She is highly active on the boards and gives great feedback. If you are considering an online hooping class, don’t hesitate at all. It’s awesome!
The best part is that she covers all of the “hooping secrets” that the free YouTube tutorials miss out on…things like flow and combination building, hand placement, etc. I feel like my knowledge of hooping in general is exponentially higher after being in her classes.
Go check it out…and have fun hooping!
