Who wants to hoop!? Woop woop!!

Superhooper is giving away a day hoop from their amazing collection to one lucky winner! If you read yesterday’s post and thought,”I can do that!”…then you need to enter this giveaway. If you read yesterday’s post and thought, “There is no way can I ever do that!”…then you need to enter this giveaway. Even if you’ve never thought about hooping, you need to start now. It will change your life!

Why Superhooper?
With so many places that you could choose to buy a hoop…why choose Superhooper? Superhooper was founded by Lara Eastburn and her business partner, Barry Clement in 2002. She taught classes and performed in the Atlanta area up until Oct. 2009, and then her family hit the road (I like where this story is going :) ).

She and her family (husband, Drew and daughter, Navi) are traveling the country in a veggie-oil bus teaching free hoop classes! You can imagine my excitement when I found a fellow veggie oil mama who likes to hoop :) And of course, I want to support their efforts in any way I can.  They are doing a great thing!

Click here for their schedule…you can also put in a request for your city! Here is brief overview of why they are offering these awesome classes…

In towns all across America, hoopers are learning this new movement art from YouTube videos and instructional DVDs. It is our mission over the next 18 months (maybe more!) to travel to towns where there is little to no live hooping and/or fire safety instruction, bringing hooping to your back yards, parks, and studios. We will help you get started, or master that one difficult move, introduce you safely to fire, or help you start a hoop group in your area. You’ll be amazed at what you can do in a hoop!

Lara and her crew have been making hoops for 6 years, and one of their specialties is the LED (light up) hoop. Soon I will be the proud owner of a blue-green binary LED hoop! Oh my…I am excited. I’ll be hoopin’ all through the night. I’m also going to be trying out some of their mini poi hoops as well. Check out Lara’s write up about minis and the video here…it’s great!

Lara is offering a sweet deal for my blog readers too! When you purchase the SuperGrip Classic Hoop, you can upgrade to the SuperGrip Alpha -OR- the SuperGrip Omega for FREE. Just include the words “Walk Slowly” in the comments section and specify your choice when you check out. This offer is good through May 17, 2010.

See the inside of their sweet bus here. And be sure to check out Lara’s fabulous blog, Hooposophy. I’ve really enjoyed her perspective and thoughtful writing.

The giveaway will take place on Monday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. CST. Spread the word…hooping is delightful!

Here is how you can enter:

  • Click on over to Superhooper and look at the pretty hoops.
  • Leave a comment below with your favorite hoop and colors you would pick (I love the SuperGrip Alpha with blue/green!)

“Life is not a sprint. Yet, we live in the land that values and even glorifies speed — mind numbing, adrenaline-churning, distracting, dangerous speed. And few families can sustain that pace over the long haul. Those that try end up with indicators that it’s time to slow down. Is that pace of life inevitable? I don’t think so, because as I look to Christ and try to discern in Scripture His pace, there’s something I can’t help but notice. Jesus never seemed to be in a hurry.”

-Excerpt from Not So Fast, by Ann Kroeker

Have you ever wished you could just SLOW IT ALL DOWN? Life moves so fast, and unless you are intentional about creating a slower pace, you will spiral out of control at the pace of your surrounding culture.

My friend, Ann Kroeker, has written a book called “Not So Fast: Slow Down Solutions for Frenzied Families” that talks about this phenomenon of the “over scheduling”of our families and our children. She explores this topic beautifully and offers practical wisdom on how to slow down your life so that you have more time for family, friends, and most importantly, Jesus.

I’ve really been enjoying her book (available in Kindle format too!)…and I love the she has featured excerpts from blogs that I know and love, including Andrea, Aimee, and there is even little blurb from me as well.

This giveaway will feature a signed copy of Ann’s book…the winner will be chosen at random on Monday at 12:00 CST. To enter:

  • Leave a comment below and tell me one way that you have intentionally made a choice to slow down your life.
  • For an extra entries, put a link back to this giveaway on Facebook and/or Twitter (and then do a second/third comment here that says “FB/Twitter”)
  • You will get yet ANOTHER entry for posting about this giveaway on your own blog (add another comment here that says “blogged here” with a link).

I will be doing MANY MORE awesome giveaways over the next couple of weeks to celebrate Walk Slowly’s FOURTH birthday. Crazy, I know :) I can’t believe it’s been that long. So stay tuned for lots of fun stuff!

I’m sure many of you are already fans of Lisa Leonard’s amazing jewelry…her hand-hammered pieces of art are breathtaking! So…you can imagine my delight when she offered to do a giveaway here! Choosing just one piece was rather difficult for me…they are all so amazing. I finally decided on the “Jumble of Charms” necklace. When it arrived in the mail…I was GIDDY. It was perfect. I don’t think I have taken it off since then. It’s also become Lucy’s favorite…she loves the light sounds it makes when she plays with it. It’s just the right weight and size…and I love that it’s customized with my sweetie’s names and our family motto.

Are you in love? I knew you would be. If you haven’t been to her site, you must RUN there now. She does more than just necklaces…there are bracelets (for women and men), rings, baby spoons, earrings, and more. My favorite necklaces are Mama and Fly Free.

Lisa is generously giving away not one, but TWO $50 gift certificates to her site. In addition to that, she is giving 15% off your order (use the code “walkslowly”). The discount will expire on Monday, Jan. 11. I will choose two lucky winners at random on Friday, January 8 (entry cut off is 12:00pm CST).

To enter the giveaway:

  • Leave a comment below with the name of your favorite piece(s)
  • For an extra entry, put a link back to this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter (and then do a second comment here that says “FB/Twitter”)

Yippee! We’ve come to the last giveaway of my “Magical Month of Giveways!”. Although…I do have several others up my sleeve for January, so the fun isn’t over quite yet :)

I’m so excited about this one. This week is a DOUBLE giveaway featuring clothing designed by Bethany at One Love Creations and Gillian at Indigo Inspired. We spent several weeks in Eugene getting our new RV converted to run on veggie oil, and while we were there, I had the blessing of spending lots of time with the mamas that run these stores. They each have their own Etsy stores and their own unique lines of clothing, but they work together to dye them. When Bethany gave me one of her pieces for my birthday, I just knew I had to ask if they would do a giveaway because I fell IN LOVE with the clothes and I knew you would too!

All of their beautiful pieces are:

  • Certified Organic Hemp + Cotton blend…with the perfect stretch!
  • Dyed by hand with environmentally friendly dyes
  • Custom designed
  • Handmade with love

If you’ve never had any hemp clothing before…now is your chance to try it out. I LOVE how hemp wears…so soft and cozy (and yet sturdy too!). I also thought it would be fun for you to get to know Bethany and Gillian better…so I asked them to introduce themselves to you and say a little about their clothing.

Bethany / One Love Creations:

Bethy Mama“I grew up in a very large, very crafty family. My mother sewed and although I didn’t exactly take lessons from her, I learned a great deal from watching her for all those years. I have always greatly valued handmade goods. About two years ago, I started working with organic and sustainable materials.  I wanted to offer people the choice to buy clothing that would support a small family, have minimal impact on the earth, and have clothes made with care. I  choose my designs based off natural fashion and cute styles that i believe are versatile for all ages. I enjoy sewing because I get to spend more time with my children and husband at home and I get a sense of fulfillment when others find joy in my efforts.”

Gillian / Indigo Inspired:

Jillian and Indigo“I am an integrity minded single mama…stitching away every chance I get. Consistently devoted to creating beautiful and flattering clothing made with sustainable fabrics. I have been divinely inspired to create clothing for the last twelve years. Every seam is a focus of perfection.  I strive to live sustainably with my every action. Working with organic and hemp fibers helps reduce the pollution of our earth. Supporting small businesses is yet another step to debunking the mass culture craze of cheap slave labor produced products. It’s the little spurts of kindness we show in this world that can make the biggest difference. My work is inspired by my beautiful son, Indigo Leonel, and the sacred light within us all.”

So…now you’re just dying to know what the giveaway is for, right? :) Drum roll please…

Bethany will be giving away one “Bella Top“, and Gillian will be giving away one “Winter Sol Sistre Sweatshirt” (both pictured above). Wooo! These are such beautiful shirts…in fact, I have the Bella and I’m waiting for my Sol Sistre right now (along with several other pieces that I traded photography sessions for…can’t wait!).

On top of that, they are offering a discount to my blog readers. The discount is 18% off any purchases, and it expires on December 24. They will refund the discount difference to your Paypal account after you pay. Just enter the code “WSLW” in the comment section along with your size and color choices.

I will be choosing 2 winners at random…one for each piece. The drawing will take place on Monday, December 21. To enter in this drawing:

  • Leave a comment below with the name of your favorite piece from each of their stores.
  • For an extra entry, put a link back to this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter (and then do a second comment here that says “FB/Twitter”)
  • You will get yet ANOTHER entry for posting about this giveaway on your own blog (add another comment here that says “blogged here” with a link).

Have fun!
